Kimi Antonelli might be heading for a great season. The young Italian from Mercedes finished a handsome second on Sunday morning during the Australian GP in Melbourne, just under three seconds behind his teammate George Russell. “We couldn't have wished for a better car,” Antonelli cheered immediately afterwards.

“My start of the race was very bad,” Antonelli looked back. He started from P2. “I lost many places, which meant I had to recover. But the overall speed of the car was good, especially at the end.”

Antonelli, for whom it meant the fourth podium finish of his F1 career, said he enjoyed the racing. The ‘overtake-mode’ is very powerful, that was enjoyable at the beginning. Now it’s a matter of getting some good rest, I’m looking forward to the next race, next weekend in China.”
