Team boss Andrea Stella praises his driver Lando Norris. The reigning world champion had the strongest car on the grid during the last Dutch GP, something the Italian had not expected beforehand. “Lando is now really driving at the level of a world champion,” Stella concludes.
Lando Norris has won a Grand Prix as world champion for the second time in a row. According to the Brit, his ultimately comfortable victory during the Dutch GP – with a lead of over eleven seconds on second place Andrea Kimi Antonelli – came down to one overtaking move on that same young world championship leader. McLaren team boss Andrea Stella was very impressed with his driver’s race.
“Lando is driving and performing at a very high level, in absolute terms,” Stella said after the race. “I think he is driving at the level of a world champion and as I always say about Lando: what I find most beautiful about his trajectory in Formula 1 is that he keeps improving. Especially after the start of the 2025 season, all the puzzle pieces have fallen into place for him.”

‘Lando is then the master’
According to Stella, Norris is “getting stronger and stronger.” The team boss had not expected McLaren to be able to compete for the win at Zandvoort. “But we committed ourselves to finding out where the opportunities lay, both in terms of tire management and improving the car… I think that when conditions are such that the car starts to slide during the race and there is little grip, Lando is the master in these kinds of conditions.”
