Giedo van der Garde writes in his exclusive column for FORMULA 1 Magazine about his work as an analyst for Formula 1 on behalf of Viaplay and the reactions that sometimes arise from it.
“Of course, you sometimes get negative reactions to what you have said, especially on social media. For me, it’s not too bad. I think. Because honestly, I don’t read those kinds of things at all. And if I did read them, I don’t mind! Even during my time as a driver, I never worried about those kinds of side issues,” says Giedo van der Garde.

He continues: “I recently read that Johnny Herbert, former driver and FIA steward, had previously received death threats from fans, especially from the Netherlands. I don’t want to justify those kinds of things, but you shouldn’t make them bigger than they are. I see here and there some things that shouldn’t be possible, but I would like to say to Johnny Herbert: Just let it go, man! With all the open platforms that exist, anyone can type whatever they want and often anonymously as well. So be it. The key is not to attach any value to it and not to take it seriously. Or just don’t read it. Do your own thing, be happy with what you do and that’s it!”
