Will Max Verstappen participate in another 24-hour race in 2027? It won’t be due to the Formula 1 calendar, as none of the major 24-hour races – the 24 Hours of Daytona, Nürburgring, Spa, and the prestigious Le Mans – coincide with a Grand Prix weekend next year.

Formula 1 officially announced the calendar for the 2027 season on Wednesday. Besides the return of the Portuguese and Turkish Grands Prix and the increase in sprint races to ten, one other thing stood out: no Grand Prix coincides with the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This creates an interesting opportunity for Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and Fernando Alonso. All three drivers have indicated they would like to take on the 24-hour race. The 2027 edition takes place on June 12 and 13, between the Monaco and Portugal Grands Prix.

Also clear path for other 24-hour races
The 24-hour race at Le Mans is not the only option for another outing outside Formula 1 for Verstappen. The 24 Hours of Daytona takes place on January 30 and 31, 2027, well before the Formula 1 season starts on March 14. The 24 Hours of Nürburgring – which Verstappen already participated in earlier this year – takes place on May 29 and 30, exactly between the races in Canada and Monaco. The 24 Hours of Spa also does not coincide with a Grand Prix in 2027 for the first time in years. The 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps takes place between June 26 and 27, just after the Portuguese GP.
