Freddie Slater will move to Formula 2 next season. The 18-year-old Brit has signed a contract with Invicta Racing, making an important next step towards Formula 1. Slater has been part of Audi’s development program since the beginning of this year.

The move comes shortly after Slater narrowly missed out on the Formula 3 title. The Brit finished second in the championship last weekend behind the American champion Ugo Ugochukwu. Slater entered the decisive round at the Madring circuit as the leader, but saw Ugochukwu turn a fifteen-point deficit into a fourteen-point lead.
Impression
Still, Slater impressed in his first full F3 season. He won five races and finished second in the championship with 145 points. His development is closely monitored by Audi, which included him as the first driver in its new Driver Development Programme in January.

With his move to Formula 2, a possible Formula 1 debut comes one step closer. Audi will have its own F1 team from 2026 and is meanwhile building a development path for future drivers. Slater will have the chance to prove himself at the next level with Invicta in 2027.
