Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have now discussed the incident during the Italian Grand Prix. Although Hamilton previously advocated for clear agreements within the team, there are currently no new rules. “We haven’t agreed on any rules for the future either,” Hamilton says at the Madrid ring.

Leclerc pushed Hamilton slightly off the track at turn two at the start of Ferrari’s home race in Monza, causing the Brit to lose several positions. Afterward, Hamilton said that Ferrari should set clear rules on how the two teammates race each other.
Leclerc reviewed the footage after the race and admits he went too far, he says during the media session in Madrid. “Of course, we don’t want to push each other off the track. After I saw the footage, I spoke with Lewis. I clearly went too far at turn two and I told him that.”
According to the Monegasque, the incident has no impact on the good relationship between the two Ferrari drivers. “I think it’s clear what we need to do and what we need to avoid in the future. I don’t want to go into it further, but I can say this has no impact on the good bond we have.”

Hamilton also sees no reason to make the incident bigger than it is. “It wasn’t that bad,” says the seven-time world champion. He was glad the two drivers sat down together immediately. “It was good that we could sit together right away and talk openly and honestly about it. That shows he is mature.”
Hamilton also expects such moments to happen more often. “We are evenly matched in speed, we both want to win just as much, and we both want to perform as well as possible for the team.”
Leclerc agrees. “These things happen and it certainly won’t be the last time. That’s part of racing.”
