Pierre Gasly had a ‘magical’ Saturday at Monza and secured pole position for the Italian GP. In the race, however, he had to acknowledge the superiority of the top teams and finished seventh after an exciting Grand Prix. Afterwards, he expressed satisfaction with the result. Gasly mainly hopes that Alpine can maintain this pace in the upcoming race weekends.

Speaking to the French Canal+ , Gasly reflected on his race. “I knew I had to shut the door from the start,” he responded about his start. The Frenchman initially managed to keep George Russell, who was next to him on the front row, behind him, but the fast Mercedes soon caught up. “I’m satisfied, it went well overall, many positive points,” Gasly added. “I hope we can maintain this performance during the upcoming Grands Prix.”
Enough positive points
“I think we should be very satisfied with the whole weekend,” he emphasized. “Of course, after yesterday you want to dream and think that maybe it’s possible to win the race. But today we were a bit more realistic. Yesterday we achieved something magical, today we knew it would be difficult to keep the McLarens, Ferraris, and Mercedes behind us. I managed to keep up in the first ten laps, but as soon as I started losing grip, I couldn’t keep up anymore.

“There is a lot of positive to take from the race,” concluded the Alpine driver. “We all hoped and dreamed of a different result, but it remains a good race. We fought a bit with Norris, who by the way has won the last two races. We also finished just three seconds behind Hamilton.”
