Franco Colapinto is also officially guaranteed a seat for 2027. The Argentine has extended his contract with the French team by one year, and will therefore be on the grid next season alongside teammate Pierre Gasly. “I feel very happy and at home here,” Colapinto himself says about his contract extension.

Franco Colapinto began his adventure with Alpine during the 2024 Italian GP as a replacement for Jack Doohan. Although the Argentine has yet to achieve a podium in Formula 1, the French team is pleased with the collaboration. “We are very happy to confirm our driver lineup for 2027, with Franco remaining alongside Pierre as a race driver,” says top advisor Flavio Briatore. “Consistency is very important to me.” Pierre Gasly already signed a contract a year ago through 2028.
“This year we have seen how Franco has really grown and developed into a great driver,” Briatore continues his praise. “Especially his results in Miami and Montreal confirmed what I already knew: Franco belongs in Formula 1 and he belongs with this team. I expect both Franco and Pierre to continue delivering fantastic work on the track and for the whole team to relentlessly push forward until we are competing and winning at the front of this sport.”

‘We still have milestones to reach’
Of course, the main person himself is also happy that he will be driving for Alpine for at least one more season. “I am very happy to stay with this team in 2027,” Colapinto says. “I feel very happy and at home here, and it is even better that we have made significant progress this year compared to last year. We still have many milestones to reach and I know the team is working very hard to improve performance and make the car better and better. Our long-term goals are obvious – to compete and win – and I am grateful to the team, Flavio, and Steve (Nielsen, ed.) for the trust they place in me to be one of their drivers in the future. I look forward to seeing how everything develops and am focusing primarily on my task on the track.”
