Max against 100: Max Verstappen takes on the challenge with one hundred karters for Red Bull challenge

Max Verstappen has won just about everything there is to win in Formula 1 with four world titles and 71 Grand Prix victories to his name. Time for a new challenge for the four-time world champion, Red Bull must have thought. The Austrian racing team announced on the Tuesday after the Dutch GP that their driver will take on a new challenge on September 16 at Silverstone against no fewer than one hundred karters.

The challenge comes shortly after Max Verstappen’s recent contract extension with Red Bull. Just before the Dutch GP, both parties announced they would extend their collaboration until 2030. For Red Bull’s new stunt, under the banner ‘Max vs 100’, Verstappen will try to overtake one hundred kart drivers on the Silverstone circuit. The kart race marks a return to his roots for the Dutch world champion, who started karting at the age of 4.

Fans can also watch all the action, as the kart race will be broadcast live on Disney+ on September 16. Verstappen’s opponents are not all professional karters; other Red Bull athletes, celebrities, and even fans will be allowed to compete against the world champion. Verstappen will start the race from the back of the grid.

Verstappen is already looking forward to ‘chaos’

“In karting, you learn all the basic skills: starting, defending, overtaking. I have, of course, karted for a large part of my life, so it’s always fun to return,” Verstappen looks forward to the challenge, he says in the press release. “It’s about feeling the grip of the kart. I have spent so many years in the karting world that you naturally get back into it very quickly. I’m looking forward to just seeing how the chaos unfolds before my eyes.”
