Lando Norris won Sunday ‘the last lap’: the final Dutch GP at Zandvoort. It was his second victory on the Dutch dune circuit and his second win in a row in 2026. Afterwards, he reflected on an entertaining race, partly thanks to the incredible atmosphere in the stands. Norris is disappointed that he will not be returning to Zandvoort for the time being; after this last edition, the track will disappear from the F1 calendar.

During the race, Norris tried to follow the action on the track as best as possible. “You kind of watch the TV screens to see what the other drivers are doing,” he explained during the official FIA press conference. “There are quite a few TVs along the circuit here, so I had plenty of opportunities to follow everything. I think it was a good race and a nice finale for this event. Especially the start, the battles between me and Kimi (Antonelli, ed.) and the actions of Lewis (Hamilton, ed.) at the end.”
Atmosphere and energy of Zandvoort
“Zandvoort remains a difficult circuit to overtake on,” Norris continued. “I don’t think many drivers can just make an overtaking move on their own strength.” The new regulations also offered little solution. “If you both have boost, no one has an advantage,” he explained. “That’s actually worse than DRS, so there were even fewer overtaking opportunities than last year.”

Norris hopes that the many fans in the stands at least enjoyed this last F1 spectacle at Zandvoort. “Then I’m happy,” he said with a grin. “I’ve always said that I enjoy it here. I enjoy the Dutch fans. They have always supported me very well. And yes, it was nice to do a calm lap afterwards and soak up the atmosphere. This is anyway one of the races with the most atmosphere and energy, which makes me enjoy it even more. So yes, it’s a shame that it’s the last one.”
