Max Verstappen is facing his last Dutch GP at Zandvoort. After this edition, the curtain falls on the racing event; next year the dune circuit will no longer return to the F1 calendar. The Dutchman always celebrated his home race with a special helmet, and also during the upcoming sprint weekend he will appear at the start with a special color scheme. In honor of the last edition, we list all of Verstappen’s Zandvoort helmets.

2021 – First home race at Zandvoort
Max Verstappen’s first special helmet for Zandvoort dates back to 2021, when the Dutch GP returned to the F1 calendar. The Dutchman wanted to mark that milestone with a unique red-white-blue design. “I thought it was appropriate to use the colors red-white-blue,” he responded at the time. “That color combination comes out very nicely. There are beautiful details in it, more than usual; it looks as if the helmet is painted.” With this design, Verstappen drove to his first home victory in Formula 1 on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
2022 – Tribute to father Jos Verstappen
For the 2022 Dutch GP, Max Verstappen drove with a helmet that paid tribute to his father Jos Verstappen. “A token of appreciation for all the efforts my father has made for me since I was a child,” said Verstappen junior. “He brought me to where I am now, a champion in Formula 1. So we made a new version of my father’s old helmet design. You can see it coming through in the design and both have my father’s original logo on the back. It is very personal to me because it is very special to be able to race with this design.”
2023 – Dutch tricolor
In 2023, the Zandvoort helmet was fully inspired by the Dutch tricolor. Verstappen deliberately chose a very recognizable red-white-blue design. As a result, the design is also asymmetrical. “This time I wanted to go for the red-white-blue flag,” he explained at the time. “On top of the helmet, we have the full flag with the lion logo on it. One side of the helmet is blue and the other side red. Those colors come together at the back of the helmet. I think it looks great.”

2024 – Tribute to the Orange fans
The helmet Max Verstappen wore in 2024 during the Dutch GP was not unique to Zandvoort. The design was unveiled in June 2024 and was a tribute to the enormous support of the Orange Army, the loyal Orange fans of the Dutchman. Verstappen also wore the helmet during the Grands Prix of Spain, Austria, Belgium, and Italy. “This helmet means a lot to me,” he explained. “Of course because of its color, but it is also a tribute to all the support from the fans. The helmet is very cool. As you can see, from the details on the helmet, you see the fans in the background – very orange and very shiny.”
2025 – Orange Lion design
The dark Orange Lion helmet of 2025 was also not exclusive to Zandvoort. Verstappen announced before the Austrian GP that he would wear this special helmet in Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands. “It is always great to experience the support of the Orange Army,” he responded. “As a tribute to that, I wear a special helmet that combines orange and Red Bull blue and has the lion as the basis in the design.”
2026 – Delft blue for the last Dutch GP at Zandvoort
Where Max Verstappen often chose orange or the Dutch flag in the first five years, he revealed something completely different for the last Dutch GP. The white helmet, featuring dark blue drawings and patterns, is inspired by traditional Delft pottery. Verstappen thus pays tribute to his home race, which will disappear from the calendar after 2026. The helmet is unique to Zandvoort and will therefore only be worn during the Dutch Grand Prix.
