While some F1 drivers are already enjoying a well-deserved summer break, others stayed a bit longer at the Hungaroring. On behalf of Pirelli, Alpine, Audi, and Aston Martin were called upon to put extra miles on the new tires for 2027. Tests are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, although the British team will only participate on Tuesday on behalf of Pirelli. After that, Aston Martin will focus on a filming day with the new Honda engine.

During the test days, Pirelli collects data for the upcoming F1 season. Various tires are analyzed in terms of speed and wear. Franco Colapinto and Gabriel Bortoleto served on behalf of Alpine and Audi respectively, while test and reserve driver Jak Crawford took the wheel of Aston Martin. On Tuesday, Pirelli fitted several variants of the C3 tire under the cars, as well as the C4 and C5 compounds.
Heat in Hungary
After 128 laps in the Alpine, Colapinto took the fastest time. The Argentine was half a second faster than Bortoleto. However, his Brazilian colleague covered the most kilometers, completing 141 laps at the Hungaroring. Crawford completed 136 laps and was over four seconds slower than the regular F1 drivers. The conditions were similar to those of the recent race weekend in Hungary. The temperature rose above 30 degrees Celsius and the track temperature was over 50 degrees.

On Wednesday, Colapinto and Bortoleto will be back in action, while Aston Martin focuses on a filming day with the new Honda engine. During such a filming day, teams are allowed to cover a maximum of 200 kilometers. The cars must run in a specification previously used during a Grand Prix and are equipped with special demonstration tires from Pirelli.
