A striking video of a Red Bull F1 car went viral this week. Metro passengers in Madrid filmed an F1 car racing over the rails. Red Bull is presumably working on a new stunt to promote the upcoming Spanish GP, which will be held in Madrid for the first time this year. In a suburb of the Spanish capital, work is currently underway on the Madring, a semi-permanent street circuit.

It must have been a surreal sight for Madrid metro passengers: a Red Bull tearing across the metro tracks. The RB9, with which Sebastian Vettel won his last world title in 2013, was equipped with special rail wheels for the occasion. Red Bull is expected to share a full video of this unique stunt in the run-up to the Spanish GP – which is on the calendar for mid-September.
The revamped Spanish GP will be held on the Madring, a circuit that partly runs over public roads and partly consists of a newly constructed section. The track is being built near Barajas airport and is intended to become a new major attraction for Madrid and the surrounding area. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will also remain on the calendar: the first Catalan GP will be held there in mid-June. The circuit, where Max Verstappen once won his first F1 race, will rotate annually with Spa-Francorchamps.
