Max Verstappen mainly drove in no man’s land during the sprint race in Canada. The Dutchman finished in exactly the same position as he started the shortened race session, seventh place, and was therefore mostly waiting for the 23 laps to be over: ‘The car felt bad,’ says Verstappen. ‘Just like yesterday actually’.

While the fight between the two Mercedes cars at the front of the field stole the show, the sprint race for Max Verstappen in Canada was much less exciting. The Dutchman started the shortened race session in seventh and finished in the same position.
“Yes, not much happened,” the Dutchman honestly tells Viaplay when asked if he was mostly waiting for the sprint to end. Verstappen was also not happy with the feeling he had in the car. “The car felt bad. Just like yesterday actually. The more tire degradation you have, the harder it gets. So that’s not great.”

‘We have had these problems for years’
The four-time world champion also does not know if the problems with the RB22 can be fixed before the qualifying session later today. “We have had these problems for years,” Verstappen even says. “Sometimes they get worse, and right now it’s really bad. We’ll see what we can do about it.”
