After a series of troubled weekends, George Russell starts the sprint race for the Canadian GP from pole position today. Teammate Kimi Antonelli is next to him on the grid, and with that, the Silberpfeilen occupy the entire front row at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Max Verstappen is a bit further back on the starting grid and begins this race from seventh place.

Behind the Mercedes duo, both McLarens are lined up. The team has clearly brought the good form from Miami to Canada: Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in P3 and P4. Ferrari occupies the third row with Lewis Hamilton in fifth and Charles Leclerc in sixth. The seven-time world champion probably hoped for more, especially since he was regularly among the fastest during the sprint qualifying. Still, everyone in the paddock knows: Ferrari is deadly at the start.
Verstappen starts from P7 but says he expects little from this sprint race. During the sprint qualifying, the Red Bull did not do what he wanted. Teammate Isack Hadjar is right next to him on the grid in eighth place. The top ten is completed by Arvid Lindblad and Carlos Sainz.

Then there are a few unlucky ones. Liam Lawson missed the sprint qualifying due to a hydraulic leak during free practice, while Alex Albon damaged his Williams too heavily to participate. The cause for Albon? He crashed into a crossing marmot during practice and hit the wall, after which his team did not have enough time to repair the damage. Both start at the back. This is also Canada.
