Laurent Mekies sees the Miami Grand Prix as an important benchmark for Red Bull. After a five-week break, the team principal expects the team to gain better insight into the progress made there. “It cannot be denied that the past few weeks have been useful for the teams, the FIA, and Formula 1,” said Mekies.

Laurent Mekies is looking forward to racing again after the five-week break. The Red Bull team principal notes that it has been good for the teams, the FIA, and Formula 1 to thoroughly analyze the new regulations and that the break was a good moment for that. “Everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing is looking forward to racing again after the forced break. It cannot be denied that the past few weeks have been useful for the teams, the FIA, and Formula 1. For the teams to further develop these new cars and for all three parties to refine the regulations together based on the first three Grands Prix,” Mekies said in the paddock.
‘How much we still need to find’
However, Mekies emphasized that they cannot solve all problems at once in Miami, but that the team aims to develop a car with which Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar can push to the limit. “In fact, Miami will be the restart of the season. As far as we are concerned, everyone in Milton Keynes has worked very hard on both the chassis and the engine, with Max and Isack also involved. We certainly strive to give them a car with which they feel comfortable pushing to the limit,” said the Italian.

According to Mekies, the Miami Grand Prix will show how much progress has actually been made. “Ultimately, the Miami circuit will provide the answer to how well we have done our job and how much we still need to find. The Miami GP is also the first of three races held in the United States this season and is therefore an important moment for us, as Red Bull Ford Powertrains makes its North American debut,” Mekies concluded.
