Earlier on Friday, it was announced that former Formula 1 driver Alex Zanardi had passed away. Before the sprint race at the Miami International Autodrome, a minute of silence was held for the Italian.
‘A huge loss’
World champion Max Verstappen also responded to the death of Alex Zanardi. “It is, of course, an inspiring story. After what happened to him during a race in the CART series, he picked up his life very well again and still delivered beautiful performances in motorsport and also at the Paralympic Games. I find it incredible how he switched that mindset and became such an athlete. It is an incredible story.”
