According to the 2016 champion, this has not changed much at the Scuderia in recent years: the Italian racing team still has the same Achilles’ heel. “That still lies in the area of strategy and communication,” Rosberg explains.

The Spanish GP quickly ended in disappointment for Lewis Hamilton. In lap seven, the Brit had to retire early due to brake problems. Charles Leclerc was still able to secure some championship points with his fourth place. The Monegasque was leading during the race and hoped for a safety car period to lose less time with his mandatory pit stop. However, this did not happen, causing Leclerc to come back on track behind the top three.
According to Nico Rosberg, the strategists at Ferrari were once again wrong at the Madrid ring. “Isn’t it true that Ferrari always has messy race weekends?” the former world champion wondered in the F1 Show podcast. “Their Achilles’ heel still lies in the area of strategy and communication. That has always been a weak point and still is.”

‘Lewis could have finished second in Madrid’
The former Mercedes driver finds it especially painful for Ferrari, because the Scuderia now almost has a car that can consistently compete for wins. “Even in Madrid, Lewis would have comfortably finished second in the race on Sunday,” Rosberg says about his old teammate. “He would have finished second, behind Kimi (Antonelli, ed.), after Max (Verstappen, ed.) had to let him pass.”
