Max Verstappen is ready for the next challenge after his kart race at Silverstone against a hundred opponents. After just fourteen laps, the Dutch world champion had outsmarted the entire field in the Red Bull challenge ‘Max vs. 100’. Verstappen spoke after the race about his next goal: “Maybe 200 drivers”.

On Wednesday evening, Max Verstappen had thirty laps to beat a hundred karters at Silverstone. However, the four-time world champion was done after just fourteen laps and 35 minutes. Already in the first lap, he outsmarted 63 opponents before starting a further advance through the field. Just over half an hour later, the job was done.
Two hundred opponents
The Red Bull driver is already looking ahead to his next challenge. “I thought: maybe then 200 drivers, and then we’ll see what happens next,” he told the media after the race at Silverstone. Verstappen had not expected to pass a hundred opponents so quickly: “I mean, when I walked to the starting grid and saw where I had to start, I thought: phew, that’s really far back. But after my first lap, I thought: I think it will be fine, I think we’re in a good position.”
In the first lap, many of his opponents immediately collided with each other, making it a matter of staying out of trouble for Verstappen. Then the Dutchman could open the hunt. “You just act on your instinct,” the four-time world champion explained. “Whatever happens when the lights go out, you just look where the gaps are and then you have to trust a bit that the few people around you don’t do crazy things. But honestly, they didn’t.”

Verstappen enjoyed the challenge
In the end, Verstappen only had to pass the top three: Dutch journalist Jacky Martens, YouTuber Zac Alsop, and Red Bull Powertrains engineer Lewis Osler. But after 35 minutes, it was over for the three fastest drivers as well. “It’s just great that Red Bull always comes up with such insanely fun things, and that suits me well,” Verstappen enjoyed the challenge. “I can really be myself, and I also think the way it was organized today… I know it takes a lot of effort to be able to do something like this.”
