Charles Leclerc crashed out in the second lap of the Italian GP on Sunday after a hard crash in the Parabolica. The Monegasque lost grip on the kerbstones and slid sideways into the tire barrier, after which the red flag was immediately waved. Leclerc was able to climb out of the wreck himself, but was later somewhat dazed and taken to the medical center. Ferrari has since confirmed that the 28-year-old driver is doing well.

Leclerc was involved in a fierce battle with Oscar Piastri in the opening phase of the race. He managed to keep the Australian behind him, but went too wide through the Parabolica in the second lap. He lost control of his SF-26 and wrote off the Ferrari against the wall. A painful result for the Ferrari hero, who will leave Monza without points. After a short visit to the medical center, Leclerc was able to return to his motorhome in good health.

At the start, there was some pushing and shoving between the two Ferraris. Lewis Hamilton was forced off the track, he judged himself. It cost the seven-time world champion a number of valuable positions. Still, the Brit can finish the Italian Grand Prix. Leclerc – who has won twice at Monza with Ferrari – will be back in action during the upcoming Spanish GP in Madrid.
