The Spanish GP is just around the corner! After the race weekend in Monza, Formula 1 is preparing for the second part of this final European double-header. This edition of the Spanish Grand Prix promises to be extra special: for the first time, the brand new Madring circuit will serve as the setting. Until this year, the Spanish GP was held for many years at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. However, Madrid won the rights to host the race from 2026 and will remain on the calendar until 2035. Barcelona has kept its spot on the F1 calendar, although the Catalans have to settle for a rotation system with Spa-Francorchamps. Belgium is therefore on the schedule next year, while Barcelona will have to wait until 2028.

The new Madring is a semi-street circuit. Certain sections use existing roads, while other parts have been specially built for Formula 1. The highlight is La Monumental, the twelfth corner. With a gradient of no less than 24 percent, this promises to be one of the most extreme banked corners on the F1 calendar.
