Preparations for the first Grand Prix weekend at the new Madring circuit in Madrid have been disrupted by a theft. The Spanish national police have launched an investigation after several electrical cables from the circuit were stolen. On Sunday, August 30, authorities discovered the cables were missing, just weeks before the first race weekend in the Spanish capital.

According to ABC, thieves took the electrical cables from a tunnel section of the Madring. The local police are still searching for the perpetrators. The theft once again throws a wrench in the plans for the organization, which has already faced protests from local residents in recent months. Residents near the Madring – who have united in the protest movement ‘Stop F1 Madrid’ – are preparing several lawsuits against the arrival of the premier class.

Madrid is gearing up for the first race at the Madring, which will be held from September 11 to 13. The new circuit will be the venue for the renewed Spanish Grand Prix through 2035. Ferrari has already completed a filming day there, while Formula 3 has conducted multiple test days on the new track. Reportedly, those tests resulted in numerous red flags.
