Without Max Verstappen, many in the paddock might have thought there was little reason for the brand to remain in Formula 1. In an interview with FORMULA 1 Magazine, Klien says the opposite is true.
“Just look at the engines they build themselves at Red Bull. That is a huge investment. They have a circuit (Spielberg) and a television station (Servus TV). Much more has been built around Formula 1 than people might realize. Ultimately, F1 is still the best marketing tool for a brand like this.”

According to Klien, Verstappen’s contract is therefore not the reason the Austrian giant remains in Formula 1, but the extension is a crucial part of a much bigger future plan. The team not only wants to continue participating in the sport but also to become the benchmark again as an independent constructor with its own engine project.
