Lando Norris remains loyal to McLaren for many more years. The reigning world champion has extended his contract with the British racing team until at least the end of 2030, with an option for further extension. “We want to keep winning,” said Norris.

Norris has been associated with McLaren for nine years. The Briton joined the team in 2017 through the junior program and made his Formula 1 debut two years later. He is now the driver with the most races for McLaren, having competed in 163 Grands Prix. In 2025, he also became world champion, the first McLaren driver to achieve this since Lewis Hamilton in 2008.
“When I started this journey nine years ago, I clearly knew what goals I wanted to achieve: bring McLaren back to the top and win championships,” said Norris. “We have achieved that goal, but we want more. We want to keep winning and as a team, we know we are capable of that.”
The contract extension provides further stability within McLaren. Earlier, teammate Oscar Piastri also extended his contract, while CEO Zak Brown and team principal Andrea Stella have also committed to the team for the long term in recent years.

Team principal Stella calls Norris a crucial factor in the team’s revival. “This extension gives us important continuity and underscores the confidence in the direction we are heading together. With him and Oscar, we know that we can count not only on one of the strongest partnerships but also on one of the most united and close-knit teams in Formula 1.”
Norris can now fully focus on the rest of the season, but one thing is clear: his future is for now painted papaya.
