Football club Real Madrid becomes ‘local event sponsor’ of the upcoming Spanish GP in Madrid. This was announced by the organizers of the brand new Madring circuit on Wednesday. The Spanish top club joins the renewed Grand Prix, which is moving from Barcelona to the capital this year. The partnership aims to bring together two of the biggest sports brands in the world.

“This agreement connects the most successful football club with one of the world’s most prestigious and most followed sporting events,” an official press release proudly states. “It also brings together two sports followed by millions of fans worldwide.” The collaboration between Real Madrid and Madring is partly made possible because both are located in the Valdebebas district. The distance between the northern entrance of the new circuit and the main entrance of the football club’s training complex is ‘only two hundred meters.’ Due to this short distance, certain facilities of Real Madrid can be used during the Grand Prix weekend at the Madring.

Real Madrid will also be prominently present during the event. The club will have access to some exclusive hospitality areas of the Madring, where club legends and other prominent guests are expected to be present. This partnership is intended to ensure that the football club not only acts as a sponsor but also becomes a visible part of the event.

Formula 1 will make its official debut at the Madring next month. The race will take place from September 11 to 13, taking over from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where the Spanish Grand Prix was previously held. Expectations are high, also because there has been a lot of controversy in the region in recent months. A local protest group is strongly opposing the arrival of Formula 1 in Madrid.
