George Russell has not only started the second half of the season well equipped, but is also engaged. The Brit proposed to his partner Carmen Montero Mundt during the summer break. During the return of Formula 1 to Zandvoort, he not only talks about the importance of a driver’s private life, but also jokes about his engagement: “I hope it gains a few tenths”.

George Russell already announced his engagement to partner Carmen Montero Mundt during the summer break. During the press conference at Zandvoort, the Brit was therefore able to receive many congratulations before being asked about the moment he got down on one knee.
“It was very special, and it was really a very beautiful moment to do it,” said the Mercedes driver. “It was well thought out, and it was a very interesting process to design the ring and arrange all those things. When the moment came, I actually couldn’t say a word. It was as if I suddenly became very nervous when I was on one knee.”

‘Even Lando would get engaged then’
Russell then joked that he hopes his engagement also makes him faster on the track. “I hope it gains a few tenths. Even Lando (Norris, ed.) would want to get engaged if it gains a few tenths,” he laughed, referring to the McLaren driver. “A driver’s private life is so important. I think we all lead such a hectic life. The people with whom we share that life play a crucial role and experience those emotions with you. And of course, I have been with Carmen for a very long time.”
