Gabriel Bortoleto sees Max Verstappen’s contract extension with Red Bull as an example for his own future in Formula 1. The Brazilian hopes not for a series of transfers, but rather for a long-term collaboration with Audi. During the media day at Zandvoort, the Audi driver explains why he prefers to make history together with the German manufacturer: ‘Hopefully this can be with Audi.’

Verstappen’s contract extension was good news for Bortoleto. The Dutchman had previously made it clear that his future at Red Bull was by no means certain, while there was even speculation about a possible departure from Formula 1. Bortoleto is glad those scenarios are off the table for now. “I am happy that he stays, because there were all those rumors that he would leave the sport. And for Formula 1 it is also good that a four-time champion remains.”

Bortoleto was then asked if he sees himself, like Verstappen, connected to one team for many years. The Brazilian does not have to think long about that. According to him, a long-term collaboration is the ultimate scenario. “That would be the dream, of course. If we stay together that long, it means that the collaboration between Audi and me has turned out wonderfully.” The young driver emphasizes that this wish has existed for much longer. “Since my karting days, my dream has always been to stay with one team.”
The fact that this dream could now become reality with Audi makes it extra special for Bortoleto. The German manufacturer will officially enter Formula 1 as a factory team in 2026, starting a new chapter in the sport. “Hopefully this can be with Audi. Because making history with a team participating in F1 for the first time would of course be a great story.”
