Carlos Sainz has responded with delight to his contract extension at Williams. The Spaniard will remain part of the British racing team beyond 2026 and expresses his confidence in the people and investments behind the project. Team principal James Vowles, in turn, emphasizes the important role Sainz plays within Williams, both on and off the track. The team has already finalized the lineup for 2027 and is focusing on improving performance.

Sainz sees plenty of potential at Williams and says he is determined to bring the team back to the forefront. “I am incredibly happy to announce that I am continuing my journey with Williams,” he said in an official statement. “I truly have confidence in the people who make up this team, both in the factory and on the circuits, and in the investments and hard work happening behind the scenes. We have everything it takes to turn this around together,” he referred to the disappointing results in the first half of the season.
After Williams finished fifth in the constructors’ championship last year – a significant achievement for the team – the Brits fell back significantly under the new regulations. However, Sainz is confident of a swift turnaround. “I am just as determined as on day one to bring Williams back to where it belongs,” he continued. “I look forward to creating even more great memories with the team.”

Meanwhile, Vowles is convinced of the added value Sainz brings to the project. “From the moment he joined us, Carlos’ talent behind the wheel and his dedication in the factory have been invaluable to this project,” the team principal added. “He works day in, day out with his engineers to gain every millisecond. He is considered a leader within this team and I am glad he sees what is possible now that we are further building the team.”
