Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur says his team does not want to slow down the pace at which upgrades are introduced. The Italian racing team has brought new parts for the SF-26 to almost every Grand Prix so far, much to the surprise of competitor Toto Wolff. For Vasseur, it is important that Ferrari continues to introduce parts during the remaining twelve races: ‘We have to maintain this momentum’.

Ferrari has more often not brought upgrades for the SF-26 to a Grand Prix this year than it has. One of the biggest packages was brought by the Scuderia to Barcelona. Lewis Hamilton then won the race in Spain, his first in the service of the Italian team.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff also noticed the seemingly ‘unlimited’ upgrades at Ferrari. “We at Mercedes are always a bit surprised that Ferrari can implement such huge updates to the car,” the Austrian said earlier. “In my opinion, their money will soon run out, the money within the cost cap, because we cannot do that.”

Nevertheless, the further development of the SF-26, and especially the power unit, is far from finished, according to Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur. “We know that we need to make improvements in the area of the engine,” the Frenchman told various media. “We will do that too, even though it takes longer to implement changes to the engine than to the chassis.”
‘Maintain momentum’
Vasseur explains how Ferrari also plans to bring upgrades to almost every race after the summer break. “The most important thing is that we can maintain the pace of development,” said the team boss. “We use a different approach (than the other teams, ed.) by introducing parts at every race. We have to maintain this momentum, because there are still twelve races to go.”
