Lando Norris was clearly delighted with his first victory of the season at the Hungarian Grand Prix. “Beautiful! This felt incredible. Thank you all, glad I could do this again,” the reigning world champion thanked his team over the team radio.

For the Brit, after his second place in Miami and his third place in Barcelona, it means his third podium finish of the season, but his first victory. His last triumph dated back to São Paulo 2025.
“In the first lap I lost a position to Oscar (Piastri, his teammate, ed.). I don’t know exactly what happened in turn 2. I lost the rear of the car a few times, that felt terrible and Oscar took advantage of that. Game Over in the first lap,” he said in his first reaction on the grid to interviewer James Hinchcliffe.
Norris: ‘Glad to be back’
Norris, clearly tired from the race in the heat: “After that, I pushed incredibly hard to force him into a mistake. The pace today was great, possibly one of the best I’ve had. The car drove wonderfully. I was able to extend my stints repeatedly. I’m glad to be back and to be number one again.”
Norris is at least hopeful going into the summer break, to resume the season at the end of August at the Dutch GP in Zandvoort. “I hope we can continue this. Maybe it can get even better. This track in Hungary suits me, but I believe we can still win races. This result helps me and the team go into the summer break. If we really want to compete again, we need more weekends like this and put pressure on our competition. But this was a perfect weekend. We will have to keep pushing. I am proud and hopefully we will come back even stronger. What am I going to do during the summer break? Sleep!”
