Laurens van Hoepen finished fourth in the Formula 2 feature race at the Hungaroring. After a podium finish in Saturday’s sprint race, the Dutchman narrowly missed out on the podium on Sunday. Thanks to a lightning start, Van Hoepen had a long time in sight of third place, but ultimately had to settle for P4. Noel León won his first feature race in the feeder series thanks to a well-executed strategy.

Van Hoepen started from P6 on Sunday, but thanks to a good start in the first corners, he immediately managed to pass Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak and Joshua Dürksen. From P4, he then launched an attack on Invicta driver Rafael Câmara. Meanwhile, at the front, Noel León benefited from a well-timed pit stop. Under a virtual safety car, the Mexican came in for new tires on lap seventeen. Polesitter and race leader Kush Maini would make his pit stop later and consequently fell back to P2.

Meanwhile, Van Hoepen found himself sandwiched between the two Invicta cars. Partly because of this, he failed to pass Câmara. The latter ultimately came out on top in the battle for third place.
