Charles Leclerc had to settle for third starting position for the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday. The Ferrari driver could not match the pace of teammate Lewis Hamilton and pointed to a misjudgment of the changed conditions at the Hungaroring afterwards.

Charles Leclerc will start from third place in the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday. The Ferrari driver did not have a flawless qualifying session at the Hungaroring and had to concede to teammate Lewis Hamilton, who qualified second. According to Leclerc, the main cause was an incorrect setup of his car after the conditions changed during the day.
“There was a significant change in wind today, and I don’t think I anticipated it sufficiently with my car’s setup,” Leclerc explains. “I’ve been a bit off since this morning.”

The Monegasque therefore struggled to get the maximum confidence from his Ferrari. “My qualifying was quite messy. In terms of speed, I wasn’t close to Lewis.” Despite these limitations, Leclerc managed to secure a spot on the second row of the grid.
Although the Ferrari driver was critical of his own preparation and the chosen setup, he also saw a positive side to his Saturday. Given the speed he lacked compared to his teammate, he believed there was simply nothing more to extract. “Therefore, it was a matter of maximizing, and that succeeded,” Leclerc concludes contentedly.
