In Hungary, the race started calmly with a few overtakes in the midfield. Without mandatory pit stops, drivers had to overtake each other on track, without strategic games. Sebastián Montoya started from pole position and managed to hold the lead for a long time ahead of Gabriele Minì, but eventually, the Italian managed to overtake him. Nikola Tsolov wanted to overtake Montoya for second position, but upon entering the first corner, he collided with the Colombian. Montoya and Tsolov could not continue their race. Minì now gains ten points on championship leader Tsolov.

Laurens van Hoepen managed to qualify sixth during qualifying and was allowed to start fifth due to the reversed grid. After a good start, he managed to maintain his fifth position for a long time.
