Racing Bulls drivers Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad garnered much praise after the Belgian GP for returning home on a budget flight. While drivers like Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen boarded private jets after the race weekend, Lawson posted a selfie from an affordable scheduled flight on social media. Ahead of the Hungarian GP, Lindblad explained that choice.

“I don’t have a lot of money, so I’ll just keep traveling on regular scheduled flights,” the British-Swedish driver responded to the press at the Hungaroring. “There’s nothing wrong with that. That’s how I’ve always done it. If I can save some money, I’m happy to do so. So yes, I’m fine with flying EasyJet,” he grinned. Racing Bulls had booked the flight for both drivers. “The team likes to put us next to each other,” Lindblad laughed. “It’s more sociable that way.”
Close bond
Moreover, the driver duo had plenty to discuss after the Belgian Grand Prix. After all, they had fought a fierce duel at Spa-Francorchamps. Although things can get tough on track sometimes, Lindblad emphasized that he still has an excellent relationship with his teammate. “Yes, we talked about it,” Lindblad confirmed when asked. “We really have a good bond. We raced hard at Spa, but when I spoke to him (Lawson, ed.) afterwards, he just said: ‘Well done, good race.’ I found that very impressive. I always try to do the same myself.”

“I think we’ve found that balance well both on and off the track,” concluded Lindblad, who debuted in Formula 1 this season and has found a good first teammate in Lawson. “In the car, we fight incredibly hard, but off the track, we have a close bond and get along well. All the videos we have to make for social media have certainly contributed to that.” Racing Bulls has become hugely popular online – especially among a younger audience – thanks to the humorous videos the team shares. “When we’re not in the car, we’re just normal guys,” Lindblad concluded. “Then it doesn’t matter much to us.”
