Isack Hadjar hopes that his Red Bull team can quickly fix the problems with the ‘Macarena’ wing. The team decided to remove the part from the RB22 after Max Verstappen’s two crashes, and not to use it again until the problems with the rear wing were resolved. Hadjar thinks Red Bull can achieve this before the Hungarian GP: “Then we can utilize even more performance.”

Max Verstappen ended up in the gravel during both the Austrian and British Grand Prix weekends. Twice, the Dutch driver lost control of his RB22 because the rear wing did not close properly. Red Bull then decided to remove the much-discussed ‘Macarena’ wing from both their drivers’ cars until the problems with the part were resolved.
Isack Hadjar hopes his team can achieve this before the Hungarian GP. “On paper, the Hungaroring should be better for us than Spa, that’s what we think. In addition, we are trying to use the other wing again,” he said in Belgium. “If we manage that, we will be able to utilize even more performance. So yes, why not? I am confident.”
Hadjar hopes that Red Bull can put the ‘Macarena’ wing back on the cars for the upcoming race weekend. “Honestly, I’m not sure yet. I really hope so,” he continues. “I think they can do it. There are still a few checks we need to complete, but I really hope so. Even if it comes a little later, I think it will deliver more performance.”

‘Should be ready for Budapest’
According to technical director Pierre Waché, Red Bull is working hard to meet the wishes of the French-Algerian driver. “There is a mechanical problem (with the wing, ed.) that we discovered after the accident at Silverstone. We are going to fix it. It should be ready for Budapest,” he said. “We have looked at the wing and we know what happened. We know how to fix it. It’s just about making sure it’s ready and watertight in time.”
