Arvid Lindblad made his F1 debut this year with Racing Bulls, after a successful career in the junior categories. The British-Swedish talent is the latest in a long line of rookies who move up to the top class at a young age. He now has nine Grands Prix and five points finishes to his name. In the United Kingdom, aspiring drivers are allowed to start driving lessons from their seventeenth birthday, provided they have also passed their theory exam. Lindblad will turn nineteen in August, but due to all the pressure surrounding his racing career, he has not yet had time to take practical lessons. He already has his theory certificate, but only after the British GP did he have his first driving lesson.

This week the Racing Bulls visited the One Day International, a cricket match between England and India in Birmingham. There he was asked about his driver’s license. “It’s a bit of a shame that I haven’t gotten it yet,” he admitted hesitantly. “For a while it was quite funny, but now the fun is gone. It’s being worked on,” he assured. “I had my first driving lesson yesterday, so yes, it’s just something I have to get the hang of.”
