F1 Academy driver Nina Gademan got the chance on Thursday to tear around the Goodwood circuit in a historic F1 car. In Alpine’s E20, she completed two demonstration runs during the Festival of Speed. After a shakedown earlier this week, it was the second time the Dutch driver got behind the wheel of an F1 car. “The feeling in this car is incredible,” she responded beaming.

Gademan, who joined the F1 Academy last year and is part of the Alpine development program, treated fans in England to pure F1 power. “The sound this thing produces is unreal,” she grinned afterwards. The E20, originally a Lotus car, competed in the 2012 F1 season and is powered by a powerful, naturally aspirated V8 engine. “I’m glad I could entertain the fans this way,” she added.
Childhood dream
“In addition, I got to share the circuit with some very big names,” said Gademan. Other F1 figures who took part on Thursday included Adrian Newey and Pierre Gasly. “I am very grateful to Alpine. They really fulfilled my childhood dream. These were two incredible weeks: first at Silverstone and now at Goodwood.”

Gademan is competing this season in the F1 Academy championship for Alpine and MP Motorsport. With a fourth and second place in Great Britain, she scored important points and currently holds third place in the world championship standings. The next race weekend will be held at Zandvoort, on the same weekend as the – for now – last Dutch GP.
