Lando Norris has revealed his ambitions to one day race the 24 Hours of Le Mans with his great childhood hero Valentino Rossi. The Brit had previously named the former MotoGP legend as one of his idols, and it would therefore be an honor for him to share a car with the current GT driver during the endurance race. However, there is one obstacle: ‘In F1 we currently have too many races,’ said Norris. ‘But in a few years, I would really like to do that’.

Lando Norris dreamed early on of a brilliant career in Formula 1, but as a child he also drew a lot of inspiration from a very different branch of sport: MotoGP. The Brit named motorsport legend Valentino Rossi as his role model. “A man I looked up to as a child,” said the current world champion earlier.
Norris met his idol at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where GT racing came up in a joint interview. Rossi is currently active in the racing class, after he said goodbye to MotoGP at the end of 2021. Norris was asked if he would ever want to compete with Rossi in the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the most famous endurance race.

‘That would be an honor’
“Yes, I would really like to do that with him as a teammate,” answered the McLaren driver. “In Formula 1 we currently have too many races, but now that McLaren also races Le Mans, maybe next year… no, not next year. In a few years, three, four years, I would really like to do that, it would be an honor for me, and we will definitely have a lot of fun.” Rossi, currently 47 years old, then joked: “I’m trying to wait for Lando.”
