Aston Martin brings the long-awaited first upgrade package to the AMR26 for the Hungarian GP. The team has been struggling all year with problems – from severe vibrations on the car to multiple retirements of both Alonso and teammate Lance Stroll – and consistently runs at the back of the Formula 1 field. The upgrade package is therefore desperately needed for the British team, but driver Fernando Alonso already foresees that the announced upgrades will not be enough.
“I think the fans want us to win races and compete for the championship,” he reveals his ambitions to the media. “Whatever the upgrade is this year and whatever we can improve, it will never be enough. We will always miss that little extra package. So it must be clear to the fans that we work day and night to improve the car.”

Upgrades Hungary
For Alonso, it is therefore important that the upgrades for Hungary are a first step, and ‘certainly not the last’. “For me, it is important to notice in Hungary that we understand what the weaknesses of the car are, and that we address them,” he continues. “Especially regarding the aerodynamic package that is introduced first. If (the weaknesses, ed.) are improved in Hungary and we can use the car optimally, then I think there is a very clear path and good momentum that we can take into next year.”
