For a long time, Rafael Camara seemed headed for victory in the streets of Monte Carlo, but after the pit stop, Nikola Tsolov closed in. In the final phase, the drivers went wheel-to-wheel towards the first corner. Camara went straight on and stalled his car. Tsolov managed to avoid a collision and took the lead. The Red Bull junior then drove unchallenged to victory. For the Bulgarian, it marked his third win of the season, following earlier victories in Melbourne and Montreal.

For Laurens van Hoepen, the weekend initially went a lot tougher. After contact with Kush Maini in qualifying, the Dutchman couldn’t set a lap, forcing him to start both the sprint race and the main race from twenty-first position. In the race, however, Van Hoepen managed to gain ground on the narrow street circuit and ultimately finished twelfth. He just missed out on points. The next Formula 2 weekend will be held from June 12 to 14 in Barcelona.
