Laurens van Hoepen finishes sprint race in Monaco in nineteenth position

In the streets of Monaco, Laurens van Hoepen finished nineteenth in the Formula 2 sprint race. The Dutchman had to start the race from twenty-first position after his qualifying session ended prematurely. He was tapped by Kush Maini when exiting the tunnel. As a result, he could not set a fast lap for both the sprint race and the main race.

Laurens van Hoepen had a good start during the sprint race and immediately gained several places. The Trident driver quickly moved up to fifteenth position in the opening phase in the narrow streets of Monte Carlo. However, in the opening lap, he overtook several drivers off track at the start in turn one. The race control gave him a ten-second time penalty for this. Ultimately, the Dutchman crossed the finish line in fifteenth, but fell back to nineteenth position due to the time penalty.

The victory in the sprint race went to Noel Léon, ahead of Roman Bilinski and championship leader Gabriele Minì. Van Hoepen will also start the main race on Sunday from twenty-first place. The race in Monaco will be held at 09:25.
