The F1 circus has arrived in Monaco for the Grand Prix of the same name. In the run-up to the race weekend, a football match took place for the second time in the AS Monaco stadium. Several well-known names from the sports world made an appearance during the charity match, including former footballers and some F1 drivers. For example, FC Barcelona legend Ronaldinho stood directly opposite Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.

The match was played between Barbagiuans Monaco and Nazionale Piloti. Representing Monaco were Ronaldinho, Claude Makelele, and Ludovic Giuly, among others, while Clarence Seedorf and Leonardo Bonucci represented the Piloti. They were reinforced by (former) drivers Yuki Tsunoda, Pierre Gasly, Isack Hadjar, Carlos Sainz, Kimi Antonelli, Felipe Massa, and Antonio Giovinazzi. Another notable player was F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.
Barbagiuans ultimately took the win; the Piloti suffered a 6-2 defeat. The standout player was 46-year-old Ronaldinho, who clearly hadn’t forgotten how to play football. In a duel with Pierre Gasly, he outsmarted the French Alpine driver by skillfully flicking the ball over him. Watch the footage below.
