Lando Norris follows Max Verstappen! McLaren tested on behalf of Pirelli in mid-April at the Grand Prix circuit of the Nürburgring. Driver Lando Norris took the opportunity to also make a trip to the infamous Nordschleife, where Verstappen has already raced several NLS races and where he made his debut in the 24-hour race in May. Norris ventured onto the circuit during the so-called Touristenfahrten. McLaren posted the full lap on social media on Monday.

“How many cars are driving here?”, sounds when Norris cautiously turns onto the Nürburgring with his car. The reigning world champion has to make his way through traffic; during the Touristenfahrten the Nordschleife actually functions as a toll road and almost every car is welcome on the sacred asphalt. As a result, the 26-year-old F1 driver competes against all kinds of amateurs in the most diverse cars.
Bucketlist
“My hero,” exclaims an enthusiastic Norris when he passes a Skoda. However, there are also some BMW drivers who, in his opinion, do not drive fast enough. This leads to slight frustration for the Brit, who himself has a McLaren supercar with about 750 hp under the hood. In the end, it still turns out to be a successful adventure for Norris, who had long dreamed of a lap around the Nürburgring. “I can cross this off my bucket list,” he concludes with a smile.

During the recent GP of Miami, Norris was already asked about his ‘tourist lap’ around the German circuit. “It was the most fun I’ve had all year,” he responded beaming. “It was really amazing. Also because it is a circuit I have practiced on in the simulator for years. It is such a track that everyone just wants to drive on once, whether you are a driver or not. I think it doesn’t matter in which car you drive on this circuit, you probably always have fun,” he continued. “In a McLaren it was scary and fun at the same time,” grinned Norris, “but it was cool that I could tick this off my list. Although I have been in Formula 1 for years and have been to the Nürburgring countless times, this was my first chance to really taste the Nordschleife.”
