Verstappen adds next 24-hour race to his wishlist: ‘And then again in a GT3 car’

Max Verstappen has added another endurance race to his wishlist. After his adventures at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, GT racing tastes like more for the Dutchman. Max Verstappen participated for the first time in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring last May. The Dutchman and his team in the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 were also long on course for victory, until a problem with the driveshaft in the final phase spoiled the party. Verstappen had already revealed that he will definitely return to the Nürburgring, ‘I definitely want to win that race’, but he also has other GT ambitions.

For example, he also wants to participate in the 24 Hours of Daytona someday. Although he does not see this happening before 2027. “If I wanted to do that, I would have to adjust my entire training program accordingly,” he tells De Telegraaf. “Normally I start preparing for the new F1 season in January. I would have to adjust that. And I will also have to discuss it with my family.”

‘Not yet a concrete idea’

The Dutchman therefore confirmed that participation in Daytona is still an ambition and not a fixed goal. The American endurance race takes place every year in January. “At the moment it is an idea, but not yet concrete,” Verstappen continues. “I still have plenty of time to think about it. But I would really like to do it. And then again in a GT3 car, I think, not in the fastest GTP class.”
