Racing driver and FORMULE 1 Magazine columnist Tom Coronel has announced his racing program for the upcoming season. The Dutchman is participating in several major competitions, including prominent races at the Nürburgring. As a result, he will also meet Max Verstappen there, who confirmed after the Australian GP that he is participating in NLS2 and the infamous 24-hour race on The Green Hell.

Tom Coronel will once again compete in GT3 in the coming period, this time in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 from the German Max Kruse Racing team. Together with regular partner Jan Jaap van Roon and Red Bull sim driver and analyst Rudy van Buuren, he is participating in three NLS races and the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. Later this month, Coronel will already be in action during NLS2, where he will compete against Max Verstappen, among others. The Dutch Formula 1 driver wants to use this race to prepare for his 24-hour debut in May. Both Coronel and Verstappen compete in the SP9 class, the fastest category.
“At the Nürburgring, we are working together with Max Kruse Racing again this year, with whom we also drove last year, but this season we are switching from the Porsche 911 Cup car to the Audi R8 LMS GT3, which is clearly a level higher,” Coronel explained via his website. “With the Audi, we are racing in the SP9 class, the highest category in the races at the Nürburgring, in which the competition this year is stronger than ever. And of course, it is very cool for Dutch drivers to race together with Max Verstappen.”

Verstappen is expected to bring a lot of extra media attention to the 24-hour race. When he made his NLS debut last year, there was already talk of Max Mania on and around the circuit. “You can count on it being another great event, with even more Dutch fans and media attention,” Coronel confirmed. “The race will also be broadcast with Dutch commentary on Viaplay and partially on Viaplay TV. Later in the season, we will do another NLS race, because the Nordschleife simply remains the most beautiful circuit to race on.”
“This will be a super beautiful program with well-known partners. I am happy to be able to race with a GT3 again,” Coronel concluded. Before he fully focuses on the Nürburgring, the driver from Het Gooi will also compete in the Gedlich Winter Series and the Michelin 24H Series. There he races with an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo from the Belgian Comtoyou team. “That will be the first time since 2019 that I drive a GT3 car again, but we have tested and that went particularly well, so I am ready,” he laughs.
