Max Verstappen has once again traveled to the Nordschleife Nürburgring this weekend, where two NLS races await him. The Dutchman is preparing for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring via these ADAC 24h Qualifiers, but the weekend did not start as hoped. More than a sixth starting position for the first race, NLS4, was not possible.
For fans of Max Verstappen, it was a long wait in the morning hours until their hero took action during the first qualifying session of the NLS weekend. Due to an early red flag – caused by a crash involving Anders Buchardt in car number 39 – the session was halted early. However, at 09:40, the cars were allowed back on track. For Verstappen’s team, his teammate Lucas Auer opened the proceedings. The driver managed to work his way up to the fifth fastest time before Verstappen himself took over the wheel.
No improvements
However, the Dutch world champion could not improve his teammate’s time. More than an 8:14.1 was not possible during his first qualifying lap. Verstappen also did not go faster during his second and third attempts. As the checkered flag fell, the four-time world champion’s team was also beaten by Jesse Krohn. Verstappen will start the NLS4 race from sixth position. The race starts on Saturday evening at 17:30.

Although no starting positions for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring can be earned this weekend, teams can qualify for the decisive Top Q3 qualifying in May. Just like Q3 in Formula 1, this session determines who gets pole position. You can read how that works here.
