The full interview with Raymond Vermeulen about the creation of a global brand can be read in the latest edition of FORMULE 1 Magazine. Read a passage from the story below.

Raymond Vermeulen: “The most important thing is that you always retain control. I always tell Max that too. Someone will come after Raymond Vermeulen for him too, and the same applies then: make sure you know what you’re signing, what you’re doing, and who you’re getting involved with. Because people often come to take things and bring little. You always have to be careful.”

What is the biggest lesson you have learned?

“If I don’t understand something, I don’t do it. And what we do nowadays really has to fit. Max is not a clown, we don’t do strange things. He only does things that give him energy. And if you’re on the same page with a party, that works easier than with a party that wants to push its own DNA for its brand.”

What do you want to leave behind? Where do your ambitions still lie?

“I am in the final phase of my career and want to build an ecosystem for Max that is sustainable after Formula 1. When I retire, there must be something in place that he can and wants to continue with. And then I primarily think of Verstappen Racing. And whether that’s training new talent, GT racing, or running his own team, we will then have a platform in place that can do that.”
