Last Monday, the FIA, Formula 1, and teams met to review the 2026 regulations. The call for changes to the current rules in the premier class had been there since the test days in Bahrain – when Max Verstappen already labeled the 2026 cars as ‘unworthy of Formula 1’ – but became even louder after Oliver Bearman’s heavy crash at Suzuka. Williams team principal James Vowles immediately reacted enthusiastically to the announced rule adjustments. “These are sensible adjustments, and the teams, the FIA, and Formula 1 have done good work over the past few weeks to agree on them,” he said in a message on his social media channels.
