“Forza Ferrari”, sounded over Lewis Hamilton’s team radio on Sunday. Behind the Mercedes one-two and Kimi Antonelli’s first F1 victory, the seven-time world champion took a fine third place. “I am so happy for you, and grateful to share this podium with you,” he addressed the young Italian race winner afterwards. “He inherited my seat at Mercedes, which is a great team. They are incredibly strong this season, but we are doing our best to keep up with them,” he said of his former team.

Most fun race ever?

“I’ve had a very fun race,” he continued cheerfully. “We had a good start, but couldn’t keep these guys behind us. It was a great battle and one of my most fun races in a very long time. Perhaps even the most fun race ever!” Despite all the criticism of the new regulations, Hamilton is still very satisfied with his SF-26. “These cars make it possible to have very beautiful battles. With Leclerc, it was truly wheel-to-wheel, but at the same time particularly fair,” he praised his teammate.
