According to Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss, Sergio Pérez is showing why the team signed him. The Mexican, who left Red Bull at the end of 2024, has been impressive since his return to Formula 1 and, according to Towriss, is growing with every race weekend. Teammate Valtteri Bottas is also developing in the right direction, according to the American. “Their feedback is incredibly important for the development of the car,” Towriss says.

Dan Towriss – CEO of Cadillac – primarily sees that Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez has rediscovered his joy in racing. The Mexican had a difficult final period at Red Bull, but seems to be completely in his element again at Cadillac. According to the CEO, this translates not only into his performance on the track, but also into the way he collaborates with the team. “We see Checo flourishing on the track again. I admire how much fun he has in racing. You see his confidence growing and that helps the whole team move forward,” Towriss says during the press conference in Monaco.
‘Progress’
Valtteri Bottas also plays an important role in Cadillac’s development, according to Towriss. The American sees that he too is making significant strides. He emphasizes that every driver develops in a different way. “Valtteri is also growing. Their feedback helps us improve the car. Every driver is different and development is not linear. Both drivers are doing exactly what the team needs from them,” he explains.

The Cadillac CEO therefore expects Bottas to continue to develop as the season progresses. Towriss is confident that the Finn will ultimately be able to get even more out of himself and the car. “I am confident that Valtteri can also reach that next level. We are satisfied with the contribution both drivers are making and see progress in both,” says Towriss.
Meanwhile, rumors circulated last week about a possible departure of Bottas from Cadillac. Towriss made it clear that, in his opinion, this is not the case. “We have the utmost respect for Valtteri. There have been no discussions about a departure and we are very confident in our position with him on the team. Valtteri is fully committed to the project and so are we in him,” Towriss concludes.
